Varsity Radio aims to become a national student radio station that will in time service the whole of the UK. We bring a good mix of entertainment, information and music that students will love to hear.
Varsity radio was an idea conceived by media student Anthony Evans in early 2009.
There are 300,000 students that graduate from media courses every year in the UK yet there are only 300,000 media jobs in the UK.
This results in several thousand students finding it hard to become part of the radio industry; especially in the time of a recession.
After talking to an old friend and radio star from the past, Steve Merik, Anthony hatched a plan to start a station of his own,
aimed specifically at the student market. Varsity radio aims to provide a future platform to work in the radio industry, and will always help and support students studing media related degrees.
Varsity fills the gap in radio, catering specifically for students!
Anthony spent most of 2009 seeking advice and funding for the station and Varsity Radio will soon officially launch and broadcast 24 hours a day from Stoke on Trent in the west midlands.
Varsity Radio is a student radio station setup by students for students who want to work in the radio industry.
We're looking for all kinds of people to get involved in running and organising the radio station.
There are all kinds of positions to fill from DJ's and producers to marketing and advertising.
We're on the hunt for current students and recent graduates to get involved with the station.
The station will be on air from Dec 09 broadcasting live from the west midlands.
All we ask is that you are either a current university student or have recently finished a university degree, as well as having a background in Media. Work experience at your university student radio station or relevant area would be an advantage!
